We Can Train Any Dog!

The Well Adjusted Family Dog

A well adjusted dog is a dog that can handle most any situation that the dog may be confronted with and rise to the occasion with curiosity and interest. Well adjusted dogs will be comfortable with dogs racing out of a yard and towards him, or walking comfortably through a crowd of people and dogs. They should be able to be petted by humans of all ages, including toddlers. Also by sitting calmly while cars, bikes and wheelchairs pass by. Allow family and friends into the home without becoming over excited. A well adjusted dog will trust the humans in his life to be the leader and make the right decisions. A well adjusted dog will always know his human will keep him safe.

Many people ask us to help them achieve this with their dog. Whether you have a new puppy or you have rescued a dog it should start with the human structuring and defining the rules for the dog before the dog takes this upon himself. The sooner the better. We are often called in years after the fact. The dog that knows how to get past the general rules to get his own way is a smart dog. Smart dogs will learn the new rules of behavior fast with a little direction and consistency from his human family.

We first ask your family, what are the rules and boundaries you would like us to teach your dog? (What does your dog do to drive you nuts?) Next we teach your dog how to replace poor behavior with good behavior. Once we accomplish this with your dog we begin teaching your family how to become your dogs leader and teacher. Dogs are happy to have good leaders in their lives. Happy dogs live longer because the have less stress in their life. Once we relieve the stress from your dog, the stress for the human will go away as well.
